I've yet to ever have       a computer just die on me(though I've had hard drives die, and other       components). ;)              > If it was, I wasn't aware of it. Speaking of emulation; specs; and       > the SNES, the DREAMSNES emulator seems slow, as does MAMEDC.              Yup.              > Wasn't       > the dreamcast in the same family as the PS2 and the Xbox? I just read       > somewhere that it is only 250 mhz. Yikes.              I don't know about "family", but it's definitely the same generation as       both. As for why any emulation over 8 bit sucks on the DC, honestly I       blame the homebrew community. I just find it hard to believe that a       system like the DC could suck so hard when it comes to something like       running fucking Mario Kart. ;)              I think one problem is that they are trying to port emulators over to       the DC rather than build them from the ground up for the DC. I think the       other is when they do try to build them from the ground up, they're       using hacked tools so it's difficult to get the kind of performance       you'd see out of any given third or first party title. What we need is       one of those homebrew guys to run into an actual DC dev. kit...then we'd       see some real progress....              > Well, all of this is very cool. My dreamcast has probably never worked       > as hard as it did this week :D Let us know if they release the       > streets of rage remake on the DC.              We're all hoping for that...but honestly I just don't know that it will       ever happen. In the meantime, you could always try that "Beats of Rage"       if you want. :)              > What I need to do now is to get an       > adapter for using my playstation arcade sticks on the DC. The Topmax       > stick sucks. Now I know why it isn't worth anything. It doesn't even       > have L or R buttons. Ugh.              Hmmmmm, never heard of Topmax. There are adapters out there that will       let you use PSX stuff on your DC(that 3 in 1 Joybox I mentioned earlier       in the thread, is one method). My buddy has the official Sega arcade       stick thing for the DC. It's damn nice. You may look into seeing what       that goes for on the net, I think you'd like it. :)              Bel       --       Whip Ass Gaming: http://www.whipassgaming.com/              "It's at times like these the great heaven knows       That we wish we had not so many clothes."        - Adam Ant, Strip              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
