That's why some people call it the "PS3DO".

Not to mention the early release of the Saturn at a high retail price,
after which someone from Sony only needed to say "Two hundred ninenty
nine dollars" and walk off with the room full of applause.

I just can't compare that over-designed over-priced beast with the
Dreamcast, which was released at a reasonable launch price, and had no
pretentions of being a "media center". It's like both the 3DO and Saturn
wrapped up into one, and then some.

I've seen folks try to rationalize the PS3's position by saying that the
PS2 had a weak launch library too. Well, maybe it did, but the PS2 was
also released a year before the Xbox, and it didn't have the Xbox's
fratboy-centric game library, full of FPS shooters, racers, and other
   testosterone-laden games.

The PS3 is up against a 360 which was launched a year earlier, has a
much more well-rounded game library, and the PS3 seems to be developing
a game library full of the same fratboy games that had me uninterested
in the Xbox until it was already dead. (Now that a hacked Xbox has
become my "next Dreamcast" in terms of emulators and cheap used games,
the unbalance of the Xbox game library has become much more apparent
when looking in the bins at Gamestop.)

I'm mostly waiting on the 360 to become cheaper and run cooler. The PS3?
Dunno when I'll get one of those, but not with its $600 price tag, when
I have a library of well over 2000 games (originals, not "backups") for
various systems to keep me busy with no price tag.
