Sega's arcade games are infuriating to emulate, based on the things I hear
from people in the industry. A lot of their timing is based on the video
clock, which is why it's so hard to convert their games to work in PAL
regions or in HD. There's also the hassle of having to put together a
front-end that replaces the coin operation and high score routines. A MAME
port is simple, but doesn't ordinarily replace those features (and most
casual gamers can't be bothered with DIP switch settings.

The philosophy of Xbox Live content seems to be 'high score competition'
all day, every day. RPG and other levelled games probably don't fit into
that structure unless there's also a multiplayer element (which is how
Bomberman gets in.) If you're talking about traditional media releases,
it's worth considering that Sammy is in charge and seems to be
concentrating on PS2 releases over all other platforms. That's where the
money is, at least for the next 12 months or so.
