   I thought Sony was against 2-D games in general, not necessarily   
   Japan-centric games.   
      
   I think their SNES games helped Square become the dominant RPG studio. Not   
   sure if those games had the mainstream impact FF7 did, I have many friends   
   whose first RPG is FF7 and never played the SNES ones.
