   It's already been determined that air doesn't cause the discoloration.   
   It was the chemical mix in each individual batch of plastic. I've seen   
   plenty of SNES units where one half of the case was yellowed and the   
   other half wasn't. If it was light (or something else like smoking), you   
   would see variable yellowing, and certainly not yellowing that stops at   
   the line.   
      
   If it hasn't turned yellow already, it won't.
