   Because they are overpriced for the most part.

   Currently have a 2.5TB raid 5 array sitting in my basement. Holds rips of   
   all my CD's and movies.   
      
   In reality, I rarely watch a movie more than once. I might not even finish   
   watching if it's crap.  $25 for something I may not even finish watching is   
   too much. Rentals may be OK, but a waste if it turns out you like the movie   
   enough to keep.
