   Yeah, I can dig it.

Hmmmmm....I have 5 controllers and adapters that allow for controllers
on the PC, and I haven't run in to this issue yet. All of mine are
USB-based, and I'm on XP so that could make some difference. One thing I
have noticed is that when I wake up my laptop with a controller already
plugged in, and then plug in another it sees it as "Controller 1"...but
just quitting the app(usually MAME) and re-opening it fixes it every time.

The controller has been slowly breaking its way in to the PC world...and
is now really making some headway with MS's new "Games for Windows"
branding. All of these games are *required* to not only support the Xbox
360 controller, but have a pre-set config ready for you when you start
the games up. I have been toying with the idea of getting Phantasy Star
Universe on the PC, and then buying a 360 controller to play it
with(when I have the PC hooked up to my HDTV). I'll *definitely* do this
   when GTAIV hits PC...

PowerSlave...sadly, it's next to impossible to get running properly.

   > When have you seen the prices dropping on xbox games. I don't look at
   > xbox stuff, but PS2 stuff hasn't dropped at all.

Prices have been dropping on Xbox games since the 360's release. They
are damn-near bottomed out at this point(stuff like Max Payne 2 is a
paltry $2.49 at GameStop), and you can usually find some amazingly good
deals on virtually any title in the library. About the only games that
still fetch $20+ are those on the 360's backwards compatibility
list...and even then, it's just the uber-popular stuff like Halo 2
   that's still demanding that pricing.

   > I keep waiting for
   > them to mark down the namco classics disc and it's still freaking $20.

Good choice. Other than the virtual arcade, with the rockin' 80s
soundtrack, it's not even remotely worth that much. I bought it some
time ago for one reason, and one reason only: Rolling Thunder. Little
did I know it's one of the hardest fucking games ever made...and you'd
be hardpressed to even make it past the first stage most times. Once I
got MAME working on the laptop, and hooked up to my SDTV, I haven't put
a whole lot of time in with it at all. I've got a few arcade comps for
the Xbox that I'll probably not play a whole lot of anymore...if you're
interested, I could probably come up with a package price for you. :)

   > It's not a particularly good arcade compilation. In fact it's nowhere
   > near as good as the namco compilations that were made for the PS1.

Namco has a bad habit of fucking us on nearly every comp they put out. I
still remember that one on the DC, had around 6 fucking games on it. 1
gig GD-Rom, 6 fucking roms barely coming to 20 megs. Disgraceful.

   > But there must be some moron somewhere who thinks it's better than it
   > actually is and refuses to mark it down :D

It's weird, but virtually every Namco Comp(no matter the system) is
priced incredibly high for its age/worth. I think the retailers see
"Pac-Man" and some how equate that with gaming gold...
