It looks like a first-person shooter though.       > I'll steer well clear.              So far, even the *best* old school DOSBox users can't get it working       correctly, there's always something missing it(be it music, or       whatever). About the only way I've ever heard of anyone getting it to       run is by actually having an old P1 with Windows 95. :(              > There was one x-box game I saw in a demo that looked cool. It was one       > of the oddworld titles. Wouldn't mind getting that one, whichever it       > was.              As you seem to hate FPS titles, I'm guess it's not "Stranger's Wrath"       but the other one...I can't remember the name, but I am pretty sure it       was a launch title on the Xbox.              > That's exactly why I want it. All       > that practice didn't make me any better at it then you probably are :D              Well, you can get the comp...but remember two things: A) A good PC is       cheap nowadays(real cheap, like $100, I can provide links if you like)       and B) if you get a modded Xbox you'll just play it through MAME rather       than the Namco disc(the Namco disc, IIRC, doesn't give you unlimited       credits, or starts you all over every time you die or some shit like that).              > The NAMCO compilations for the PS1 were quite good in my opinion. They put out games that are       > unplayable with standard console gamepads (centipede, sinistar, 360       > skate or die, robotron, etc.) What's the sense in that??              Oh, don't get me wrong...I'm not trying to tell you that the Midway       arcade comps on the DC were any good. Hell, even Midway Arcade       Treasures, Vol 1 on the Xbox sucked ass(the only redeeming feature is       Smash TV). Now, Vol 2 and 3 were pretty hip. I don't understand why       Namco can't be bothered to bring out a more recent arcade comp like       Midway did, though.              > My fear is that the 80s tunes is the reason they are refusing to drop       > the price. I've never       > seen anything like it. This kind of stuff has led me to abandon the PC       > as a gaming platform. They're ancient freaking songs for God's sake!       > Finally, I had enough and threw it in the trash where it belonged.              I wouldn't base *anything* off the experience you had with the Namco PC       comp. To make matters worse, the compilation is guarded by a very nasty       piece of shit called "Starforce". It is a horrible, horrible application       that is used to prevent piracy. It is the worst of the worst. In fact,       you *need* to go to the Starforce site, download the "Starforce Removal       Tool" and run it *IMMEDIATELY*. I don't even want to tell you what that       piece of shit software did to a buddy's PC... |
