Amusing. I was telling someone that now that Sony has bought they way
back in to the competition that we'd see you running in here to "keep
them Sega folk in their place".

   > Not to worry. Their dominance in the gaming world is all but gone,
   > which really kinda sucks actually, because now I'll have to buy 2 or
   > more consoles to get the same level of content as the last gen with
   > the PS2.

It's not gone, it's just ramping up. Watch, by the end of this year they
will be in first place, or at least in a tie with the Wii. They'll use
their wallet to do it too...

   > Not even, the amount of new content has slowed significantly.
   > I was used to a release schedule of about three/four dozen games a
   > month, now we're stuck with maybe that many in a quarter combined
   > across platforms. Rehashes has also increased significantly. The Wii
   > library for instance, is heavily populated with PS2 ports.

It's populated with ports from just about everything. What kills me
about it is why Sega hasn't bothered bringing Sambda De Amigo out...I
mean, if you just shook maracas on the DC version, why can't they just
let you shake the Wii wands instead?

The Wii, despite my girlfriend owning one, really makes me sick to my
stomach. Just goes to show you how fucking stupid our society is when a
console that A) you can't find to even buy and B) that's main strength
is a gimmicky control scheme is in the number one place.

   > Incidentally you've really should read some AV forums like AVSand
   > Highdefdigest to get some balanced perspective on the highdef war.

Wow, though I can believe you'd believe it...I can't believe you
actually typed it. Are you telling me to go to AVS, home of the
Blu-Ray.com stepchildren for a fair and unbiased look at how wonderful
   Blu-Ray is? Christ man...

   > Discussions about the highdef war has been discussed to death. The
   > biggest common misconception is Sony represents Blu-ray, and Blu-ray
   > is a Sony format. Although Sony is the biggest mouthpiece of the BDA,
   > and also the biggest "facilitator" of blu-ray adoption through the
   > PS3, Sony is not the BDA, far from it.

...and who was it that paid Warner Bros FIVE.HUNDRED.MILLION. to go BR
exclusive? I doubt the others in the BDA chipped in on that. Sony had
   the most to loose.

   > Panasonic/Matsushita has made
   > far more contributions to Blu-ray and has more parents on Blu-ray than
   > Sony has ever had. In fact, if you look at the board of directors of
   > the BDA, practically every consumer electronics company is on it,
   > except Toshiba. So it's quite inaccurate to paint Blu-ray as a Sony
   > format.

It was started by Sony, it's headed by Sony. They are the ones paying
people off to stop carrying or simply drop HD DVD.

   > It's a consortium format, much like DVD was. The only
   > difference being who are the members of the consortium. In fact, the

   > lest anyone forget the 150 million payoff of Paramount and Dreamworks,
   > which has since been substantiated unlike any alleged purchase of
   > Warner Bro. exclusivity.

So, let me get this straight...HD DVD is about to launch...Sony runs in
and pays off both Disney and Fox to be BR exclusive. Toshiba then pays
Paramount to be HD DVD exclusive...and this unfair in your mind? No
doubt being a BR fan, I'm sure it is....

   > I guess the gist of it is as I've always said, and what Kendrick said,
   > play the game, not the brand/companies. There's just too much muck in
   > the corporate world to paint any one company as black or white.
   > They're all shades of gray.

I'm sick of Sony. I'm sick of them using their wallet to win their wars.
The Warner pay off was the last straw. I will never own a PS3, nor a
Blu-Ray player, nor a PS2 or even a shitty PSP. They can buy their
victory, but they'll do it without any support from me.
