I think I'd enjoy it more if I could see my guy,       > rather than just seeing the barrel of my gun ala doom.              There are quite a few quality third person shooters on the Xbox you may       want to try. A couple of my favorite are The Suffering, The Suffering:       Ties that Bind, The Punisher and Tomb Raider: Legend.              > Nothing wrong with gloating over victories. God knows we all have our       > fair share of agonizing losses. I've got a plenty of stories too, such       > as how I got my dreamcast for like $5 :>)              Well, a buddy of mine bought what he believed to of been a brand new       Xbox from Hastings. Well, gets home, hooks it up, turns it on and Halo       is *in* the drive. No ordinary version of Halo though, this disc is       scratched to fuck. I was shocked when it played, after he gave it to me.       Get this: It actually loads really slowly...and sometimes, this is the       kicker, the load status goes *backwards* and then moves forward again.       It cracks me up...and it runs!              > What I actually meant was I wouldn't be suprised if I ended up killing       > the xbox during the mod attempt :D              Well, that's a definite possibility. I'd get a *really* good guide       before attempting it.              > I wonder if there is anything preventing you from putting a different       > DVD drive in there, especially *after* it's modded.              As far as I know, you can put another DVD Rom in there, but it *has* to       be one of the few that originally shipped with the Xbox(the Samsung, the       Philips, the Thomson). I don't think it will allow you to pop in some       bad-ass 48X DVD rom or anything like that(I could be wrong).              > It is enormous. I guess it's OK since it matches the system. Man, the       > guy at the store put it into an old fashioned paper bag. I was like       > dude you can't be serious :D              Yeah, no shit...I can't believe it didn't tear right through. When I got       my Xbox, I got it from a Best Buy...but we had parked down quite a ways       at a restaurant...so after buying it I had to lug that heavy       motherfucker all the way down there. It about killed me. ;)              > I got two questions for ya. What is this lame breakaway cable for?              I assume it's so that if someone trips over the cord, it breaks away       from the USB-based port rather than possibly bending the port by just       rippinig it right out. It's also for controller extension cables(of       which I have many).              > Also, why can't it play DVDs? Said something about needing a kit when       > I tried it.              You have to have the DVD Dogle and Remote kit. It's dirt cheap       nowadays...and I mean *dirt cheap*. You can get it at most GameStops for       around $8 and under. The Xbox is a great DVD player if you've just got       an SDTV. I used it as my primary DVD player before I got the HDTV.              It's rumored that they didn't include the ability to play DVDs with the       Xbox because it would have raised the price of the system, because       they'd have to pay for the license for it for every system shipped.       You'll notice that MS is all about the add ons...sometimes it's great,       sometimes it really sucks.              > I'm pretty sure they do. GameLiquidations is a pretty reliable ebay       > seller. They have them. Item description reads       > "# Seamlessly drag and drop GameSaves between your PC and memory card       > # Download new GameSaves from GameShark.com or directly through       > included PC application       > # Organize your GameSaves in customizable folders       > # Saves available for new games on 1st day of release       > # Email your GameSaves to your friends       > # Submit your own GameSaves for inclusion on GameShark.com"              Sounds like it should. I've only seen softmodding through the AR, so I'm       not sure about the GS...but you'd assume it'd work. Just be *Real* careful.              Bel       --       Whip Ass Gaming: http://www.whipassgaming.com/              "I'll tell you something, you show me anyone who will eat lima beans       without being at gunpoint and I'll show you a pervert!"        - Gaspar, Paladin of the Lost Hour              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
