   One opinion at the time stated that Rally racing just isn't popular in   
   the States, but the game failed to sell well in Europe as well. The   
   reviews absolutely trashed SRR for being too "shallow" with "only" 21   
   tracks.

   The way the game looks and plays, I think it was designed from the   
   ground up to be a Sega Rally game. It really is a beautiful extension   
   of Sega Rally gameplay, with new types of terrain to mess with the   
   traction it extends the original Sega Rally's dynamic of four tire dirt   
   and asphalt physics and powerslides. It will be interesting to see if   
   Codemasters (who inherited Sega Racing Studio) uses any of these ideas   
   in some new franchise.
