From: bel@whipassgaming.com              > I'd eventually like to do a comparison video of the Model 2 game versus       > the Saturn game.              I'd, personally, love to see some video of both in action. As much as I       love those 3D backgrounds, the Saturn version's "floaty" bitmaps really       did a decent job...              > I am very impressed with both versions, they're just       > flawlessly executed for the hardware they're on.              The Model 2 hardware is just so impressive....I mean, hell, it still is.       I need to give Daytona a try on the new version of Model 2 Emu, they say       some real changes have been made in it. I never could get it to play       correctly with the Saturn pad though...so I am going to try hooking up       the 360 controller, see if Model 2 Emu will accept its analog controls.       Would be great.              That guy, on YouTube, that I pissed off by saying "fuck" in one of the       comments of one of his videos, he's got loads of video uploaded where       he's racing against 7 others in networked Daytona(via Model 2 Emu 0.9).       That's something we should seriously look in to. I'll post the       instructions he sent me on WAG Forums here in a bit.              > In a lot of ways, the       > Saturn game looks better than the Arcade title due to higher color       > counts in the backgrounds.              One thing I am still on the fence about: I don't know if I like the sort       of blocky look of the arcade version more than the smoother look of the       models in the Saturn version. For example, look at Sarah's legs in the       Model 2 version, you can clearly see the "blocks" making them up. In the       Saturn version they're just smooth(not gouraud shaded mind you, but       still smooth). It's more apparent in Fighting Vipers, where Grace's       legs(or whoever, I just find myself staring at hers;) are clearly       showing lots of blocks in the arcade version. In the Saturn version,       with that gouraud shading, they are smooth.              > I'm still very impressed with the       > intelligence of the AI and its ability to adapt to your fighting       > patterns. *Nothing* but VF2 does this to any noticeable effect, and I       > love it even when I'm having my ass handed to me.              I don't know that I can agree with enjoying having my ass handed to me,       but I know what you mean. I just wish the arcade bios allowed you to       actually change the life bar attributes individually rather than always       having to go with one of the preset difficulties(easy, medium, hard,       etc). I love playing the game, but by the time you get to Jeffry, the AI       has decided that you need to go...and it proceeds to do everything in       its power to make this happen. I don't know that I'll ever beat Dural at       this rate...              BTW, has anyone figured out what is changed in Virtua Figher 2.1? You'll       notice that the Saturn version is 2.1, and in the arcade bios you can       change it to 2.1...but I've yet to read what the differences are. MAWS,       the Wiki, none of them seem to have this info.              Bel       --       Whip Ass Gaming: http://www.whipassgaming.com/              "It's super effective!"        - Pokemon Blue              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
