I have wanted to pick up Mega Bomberman for ever, but I am not willing
to pay $25+ for a complete copy. This is mainly because Atomic
Bomberman on PC is still my favorite version, and I own iterations for
   the Dreamcast and XBLA.

Nothing Psygnosis made ever clicked with me. Puggsy seems to be
included in that mix. I can find nothing technically inferior about
Puggsy, I just don't really care about the innovations it offers.

I want two things from the tech heads, and two things only. I want to
be able to use my light guns on HDTVs, and I want to be able to network
my Sega consoles with one device.
