   I have one of those models with the headphone jack in the front. Old and   
   well-traveled but reliable. Well, usually.   
      
   I got a new TV, a flat panel at 720p, this previous Christmas. Hooking   
   it up to the cable feed produces a signal that flickers in a steady beat   
   through various forms of out-of-phase and then in it. There's about 5   
   different displays it flips through like that.   
      
   I've tried about all the TV settings I can think to try to get this   
   beaut up and running. Any hints anyone can share?   
      
   (I even clocked it - something like 6 seconds to do a full rotation of   
   the five different "appearances".)
