From: deowll@gmail.com              Atlantic Cutlery offered a new knife called the travelers knife. I assume       that means gypsy. It is a Damascus full tang knife with horn scale handles.       The spine is rather thick. This thing looks kind of like it might have been       hand forged as part of the shaping which is a shock. There are a few neat       notches on the back. It looks like something made in India most likely by       windless or somebody connected to them though nothing on the knife shows       where it was made or who made it. The minor engraving on the scales is not       impressive. I could have done it. The knife would have looked better without       it but it might help the grip. The knife sheath seems to be okay. With no       hint of a guard I would not commend this as a weapon. The blade is about 5       and a half to six inches long.              The only thing about this blade that actually pissed me off was the blade       had never been sharpened. I did the first sharpening with a basterd file. I       then refined it with a butcher steel. At this point it seems to be       completely functional. As odd as this may seem I really like it. I used it       to cut up some ribs and it worked well. I'm not sure how hard the steel is.       The file worked fairly fast. I have another Damascus knife that that seems       super hard however this file seems to cut pretty fast on a couple of things       I've used it on.              I'm not sure when or if I will get to actually put this knife to the test.       This week the highs have rarely gotten above freezing and early in the       morning I've seen single digits. It is supposed to snow tonight.              You guys have fun.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
