I'm sure that you will get other responses but yes, March is well into
the dry season and starting to get warmer, but wait until June or July
for the really hot season, just before the rains.

As for Chiang Mai vis-a-vis Bangkok. Bangkok has a population (August
2010) of some 5,705,061 and Chiang Mai's population is 142,632. In
addition, Chiang Mai, being further north, in the foothills, as it
were, is cooler then Bangkok and the central plains area.

As for "elephants lying down" that was just another example of Steve's
stupidity. Elephants sleep, eat and procreate standing, which Steve
could have ascertained had he ever actually seem an elephant or
   visited a Zoo.
