|    Gluing a Gerber LST folding knife with E    |

I have several Gerber LSTs ( I think that is the model number.)       They were original a solid blade but now the blade is unfortuantly       skeletonized. If it matters, the blade is partly serrated.       I've been wanting to take one apart for a few years but was unsure how       to proceed.       Then a screw that secured the clip fell out. From there it was       nothing to break the knife completely down, do a major cleaning on it,       sand out the scratch marks and put a mirror finish around the pivit       point.       The problem is I don't trust the screw that originally fell out. When       I do the reinstall, I'd like to use LOCtite or epoxy on it to keep it       from falling out again. Also the knife uses a "pressure" pin to keep       the two halves of the handles together. It looks like it was forced       in and either pressure was use to slightly expand it or it was drilled       into place and the heat softened the plastic until it cooled and then       was held in place by friction.       So I want to know how to deal with both of those problems.       Also just found a split in the plastic on one side of the knife.       Does anyone think Black Epoxy would work for this?       Thanks              Bonnie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
