   I wash my Buck folding hunter with soap and water after using for field   
   dressing then dry and give a squirt of WD40 after resharpening if needed.   
      
      
   I often gut fish with my pocket knife. I just rinse it off in the lake. When   
   I get home I put a small drop of oil in the pivot.   
   I wouldn't use WD40, it will eventually gum up. It's great stuff for water   
   displacement but is not a good long term lube.
