   An 8 is fine for edc--maybe a bit small for very large boxes, but fits   
   in the pocket. I like small edc knives, but I work in an office and   
   don't do anything heavy with them.   
   For fruit I go for stainless despite the fact that the ultimate   
   sharpness is not as high as carbon steel.
