I bought a new Opinel not too long ago with a 3 inch blade and carbon. I
have a lot of knives, but Opinel is one of my favorites. The 3" blade fits
in my pocket perfectly and is legal. I also think the carbon blade takes an
edge much better than the stainless. Also, the blades are fairly thin and
it's easy to work on the secondary edge when you sharpen the blade so a
little elbow grease can get you an extremely sharp knife. Also, check
YouTube for some easy mods you can make on Opinels. One of the few decent
things to come out of France. :-) BTW, it's not rust. It's a patina.

Here's an idea. Has anybody tried cold gun bluing on a steel knife? Should
   help with rust.
