I'm a long time reader of rec.knives, long enough to recognize Alvin's
posts by wording, style, tone, and *content*. Alvin was an odd duck --
he would ignore even the nicest invitation to a pissing contest and
continue to post on the topic of knives. I can see already that you do
not share that peculiar frailty.
On the other hand, I remember when the Wharf Rat adopted his moniker
from a recently departed poster. No one begrudged it, because he
started posting interesting content in his own voice, so if you've
burned out whatever name you used to use, and want to post knife content
as "Alvin", go knuts. But if you just want to stir shit, you can do it
alone.
