   Well, ceramic tends to be very hard and holds a fine edge but does   
   tend to be a bit brittle. For every day use a carbon steel blade is   
   probably as good as anything.   
      
   Of course, carbon steel rusts but if you actually do use it every day   
   you probably won't have any problems, at least I never had any   
   problems with a pocket knife rusting.
