   RENO — Washoe County School District Police Department confirmed   
   a report of a shooting at Hug High School a and authorities are   
   responding to the scene.   
      
   An officer was involved in the shooting, according to school   
   police.   
      
   The school is "currently stable and secure with heavy police   
   presence at the school," according to a statement from the   
   Washoe County School District.   
      
   The Reno school was on code red lock down and the officials were   
   in the process of notifying parents, Megan Downs, spokeswoman   
   for the Washoe County School District, said late Wednesday   
   morning.   
      
   Freshman Robert Barragan told a Reno Gazette Journal reporter at   
   the scene that he saw two male students were fighting outside   
   the school library. One of them pulled a knife and stabbed the   
   other. A police officer then shot the knife-wielding student in   
   the shoulder. The student fell to the ground and another officer   
   arrived.   
      
   The 911 call came in shortly before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.   
      
   Washoe County School officers did not release further details on   
   the shooting.   
      
   Officers appeared to have detained a group of teens behind the   
   school shortly after the incident. It was unclear why they had   
   the youths sitting on a curb behind the school.
