   That may be a bit of an exaggeration...   
   But now that you mention it, two of my children and I were in Lancaster, CA,   
   northeast of LA for a week just before the Northridge quake. The ground was   
   rocking and rolling because of a minor quake in Santa Monica (or so we were   
   told). But it didn't    
   matter because everything was one-story...my daughter and I returned the day   
   before the quake, my younger son, who had gone to visit my stepson in   
   Hollywood, returned just a few hours before the quake...but I just chalked   
   that up to a series of odd    
   coincidences...
