"Respect" clearly fits better in today's world, with hip hop being the
dominant style of music over the past 35 years or so, and with Aretha's pretty
recent death. That song gets played all the time in movies, commercials, on
   shows like American Idol,
etc...also the Aretha movie called "Respect."

Kids in grammar school and Jr. High are likely to know "Respect" but highly
unlikely to know "Like A Rolling Stone."

We beat Rolling Stone to it with our Top 500 Rock and Roll songs list here.
