Bill has sent out a notice for the last regular dance of the Tuesday
Night Square Dances in Philadelphia, PA. This was started as weekly
dance in 1974, by Peter Taney (Juggernaut String Band) in the basement
of the Christian Association on the University of Pennsylvania campus
and then moved to the Parish Hall of St. Mary's Church. Later, the
caller Stretch Pyott, moved the dance to the International House. It's
hay day was in the 1970s where weekly from about 130 to 230 dances would
show up. The dance was then run by a co-op of callers, musicians and
dancers. Since International House changed the room into a theater, the
dance has moved back to the Parish Hall of St. Mary's Church where it
was run by Beverly Smith and then by Bill Masi and became a monthly
   dance (2nd Tuesday).

Subject: Square Dance Reminder, Tuesday, December 12
   Hi Everyone,
Good news and bad news! We're having our December 12th Square Dance at St.
Mary's Parish Hall next week with calling by the incomparable Pete
   LaBerge and
an all-star band put together by Ray Frick [Ray Frick - percussion,
Barbara Johnson - fiddle, Jann Glider - guitar, John Mahony - accordian,
Laura Johnson - bass, Carl Baron - banjo, Chris "you can call me Pokey"
Griffith (of the Bubble Heads) - sound].

The bad news! Our monthly dance is taking a break. This will be our
final square dance for a few months, possibly returning in June for the
pot-luck/dance or earlier. We sincerely appreciate the efforts of all
the bands, callers and dancers that have supported the dance through
it's long Philadelphia dance history. We'll keep you posted.

So, come on out next Tuesday and celebrate the Dance and the holidays
   with us!
If possible, help our festivities with a treat to share.
