XPost: uk.music.folk       From: java@evij.com              This sounds like it's based on the original Oysterband recording on the       vinyl 'Liberty Hall', Pukka Records YOP 07, March 1985. In many ways a good       version, but actually rather unsympathetic in mood to the original song.              I think the people who popularised it in modern times were the Fisher       family, particularly Cilla and Artie Tresize - I once briefly began to       learn it from a tape made by someone else of them doing it in some folk club       or other, details now forgotten. I've checked the vinyl from about then       that I still have but it's not on that, so I can't help further with       details.               |
