Thanks, I actually ended up with a 'Baby Taylor'.
The main issue is that she's just starting, so really
   doesn't know what she likes.

My daughter has hands just barely bign and strong enough
to start guitar, though she does want to learn.

As far as the Taylor goes, the size is good and the
sound is excellent for the size. In fact, better than a
lot of bigger 'off brand' guitars. After its been home
for a while no I've noticed it's out of adustment
already, and I need some sort of angled wrench
to get into the hex nut as it's inside the body, not
in the neck. So that's now on my shopping list.
Anyone know of the best tool for that, feel free
   to send a web-link!

   But otherwise it's nice.

In fact it sounds for it size like the very old
classic small martins. I was surprised to see
someone still doing 1-piece arched backs
even on small guitars, they're not so common
   these day.

The main issue with (young) kids is that they initially
look for bright colors, not sound! I think only
after they get to the point of a 2nd guitar do
they know enough to make any informed decisions.

I also looked at Baby Martin's, and some other
less expensive brands. I was pleasantly surprised
at the price for the Baby Taylor at the (new to me)
guitar store that opened up in the new mall around
here. I was expecting it might be $600+ for a Taylor
or martin. That was one of the reasons I was looking
at other brands. In this case the Taylor was around
$250. I think they had the Baby Taylors for probably
only a hundred dollars more or so. These are also new,
not used. Normally not much of an issue for me, I was
just happily surprised by the prices.
