   I don't understand why you're hesitant to talk to the promoter. If you   
   don't tell him, no changes will be made and you'll be miserable again next   
   year. Why don't you suggest that he have a children's area, set up away   
   from the stages, where the kids can be entertained--maybe someone can play   
   children's songs--and you can enjoy the music you came to hear.
