   PRESS RELEASE

   WOODY GUTHRIE BIRTHDAY BASH VIII

For immediate release on or after May 23, 2008:

   • Bowery Poetry Club to host Eighth Annual Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash.

   • Round robin style songfest to take place at New York City club on Sunday,
   July
   13, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:30 PM.

New York City's Bowery Poetry Club will play host to a two-and-a-half-hour
songfest honoring the 96th birthday of American folk music legend Woody
   Guthrie.
This Eighth Annual Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash will begin promptly at 7:00 PM,
Sunday, July 13, 2008. The cover charge is only $6, with a minimum purchase of
   one drink required.

Born in Okemah, Oklahoma, on July 14, 1912, Woody Guthrie lived in New York off
and on from 1940 until his death from Huntington's disease in 1967.

The Birthday Bash will feature songs of Guthrie and others performed in round
robin fashion by the folk ensemble MacDougal Street Rent Party -- Joel Landy,
Sandy Pliskin, Anne Price, Steve Suffet, and Gina Tlamsa -- along with Hillel
Arnold, Jessica Feinbloom, and Emma Graves. Each is an established performer in
his or her own right. Carlos Vazquez will provide accompaniment on the bass.

In addition to celebrating Woody Guthrie's birthday, this year's songfest will
pay tribute to Eric Levine, who recently passed away at the age of 51. Eric,
   who
had performed in all seven previous Woody Guthrie Birthday Bashes, was a
   singer,
guitarist, and banjo player, as well as the musical director of MacDougal
   Street
   Rent Party.

The Bowery Poetry Club is located at 308 Bowery between Houston and Bleecker
Streets in the East Village section of Lower Manhattan. It is directly across
the street from where CB's 313 Gallery, the site of the first six Woody Guthrie
Birthday Bashes, had been located. For information regarding the Bowery Poetry
   Club, please call (212) 614-0505.
