|    MSRP: the party's over :-(    |

From: Suffet@worldnet.att.net              MacDougal Street Rent Party              The Party's Over :-(              Maybe by now you heard that following Eric Levine's recent death, the surviving       members of MacDougal Street Rent Party agreed the time has come to formally       dissolve the band. That had already happened de facto, since the last time all       five of us -- Eric Levine, Gina Tlamsa, Anne Price, Joel Landy, and Steve       Suffet       -- appeared together was on October 29, 2006, for our one and only Halloween       Hoot. The first time was at the Third Annual Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash on       July       13, 2003, although three of us -- Joel, Anne, and Steve -- had used the name       MacDougal Street Rent Party at the New England Folk Festival three months       earlier.              Over the past five we had the good fortune to put on some wonderful       performance.       Among these were two gigs at the Peoples’ Voice Cafe and one at the Community       Cabaret, both in Manhattan, several at the Aubergine Cafe in Queens, one at the       Mine Street Coffee House in New Brunswick NJ, another at the Peacesmiths Coffee       House on Long Island, two appearances at the Dissident Folk Festival in Beacon       NY, a house concert for the Philadelphia Folksong Society, and an outdoor       concert in Frank Sinatra Park by the water in Hoboken NJ. The list can go on       and       on.              As you may have heard, Eric been scheduled to appear as part of MSRP at the       Eighth Annual Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash this coming July 13 at the Bowery       Poetry Club in New York. Even though he was no longer able to play his banjo       and       12-string guitar, his voice was still strong enough to sing. Sandy Pliskin, who       frequently pitch hit for Eric when MSRP performed at the New England Folk       Festival, will be coming down to New York from the Boston area to sit in for       Eric one last time. That will be MacDougal Street Rent Party's last performance       as a group. We intend to go out with a bang, not a whimper. The show starts at       7:00 PM. The address is 308 Bowery, between Houston and Bleecker in Lower       Manhattan. Please join us!                            PS: We get by with a little help from our friends! :-)              MacDougal Street Rent Party could have never lasted the five years that we did       without tactical (and sometimes strategic) air support from our various and       sundry friends, lovers, fans, advisors, hangers-on, and unindicted       coconspirators. Foremost among them, in no particular order, are Chris Lang,       Wayne Price, Ellen Nuzzi, Takako Nagumo, and Marilyn Suffet. They all deserve a       great big round of applause. But we would be remiss if we didn't also recognize       some others as well. They include, once again in no particular order, Jessica       Feinbloom, Carlos Vazquez, Heather Lev Krasna, Ray Korona, Axel Henri, Hillel       Arnold, Jody Kolodzey, and many more. Muchas gracias, señores y señoras. We       couldn't have done it without you.                     PPS: We expect the annual Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash will continue for years       to       come.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
