   That in itself would not prevent the song from being Scottish. After   
   all, the earlier lines refer to places in Scotland, and I think the song   
   (and the reality) is about Scottish women going to Yarmouth at a   
   particular time of year.   
      
   They did not seem to know that MacColl wrote it, though. Could one   
   reasonably say that it was based on Scottish styles and themes of folk   
   songs? And Jimmy Miller presumably wanted to be thought of as Scottish   
   or he would not have changed his name.
