   Well one assumes that the bulk of it will go on paying people to do   
   clever technical things.   
      
   Decent recording equipment is very cheap these days.   
      
   At UK rates that's about 500 hours of a reasonably well paid   
   professional's 'time' assuming you do the recording in your own home and   
   with equipment somebody already owns.   
      
   Editing and mastering the record will probably eat at least half of   
   that, so you're looking at three to five weeks recording it.   
      
   That's before anyone starts talking about cover art and marketing...   
      
   The last figure I was quoted for a rock band who wanted to do their own   
   album, own 'home studio', owned all their equipment and recording   
   equipment, was a touch over £50,000 (that's pounds, not dollars) for   
   the people and services.
