XPost: rec.music.celtic, nf.arts, nf.general       From: dalton@nfld.com              Last night I heard The Freels at Folk Night at The Ship Pub       here in St. John's, Newfoundland.              They are a very young traditional ensemble who have been       together for two years and are already very good plus I       think they have great potential. Last night they       packed the house. The host said (not on mike) that       they are almost as good as The Dardanelles only a lot       cheaper; well I think they should charge a bit more next       time around.              They consist of:              Danny Mills: flute/whistles/guitar/bodhran/vocals       Fergus Brown-O'Byrne: concertina/accordion       Maria Peddle (not sure of her name) fiddle/vocals       Andrew (not sure of his name) guitar/accordion/backing vocals       one more guy (Peter?) fiddle/bodhran/backing vocals              A google search for The Freels results in some       relevant hits including a YouTube video and their       FaceBook page.              --       David Dalton dalton@nfld.com http://www.nfld.com/~dalton (home page)       http://www.nfld.com/~dalton/nf.html Newfoundland&Labrador Music & Travel       "sons of long forgotten races, that the darkest night embraces" (Ron Hynes)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
