   Amazing that this thread goes back to -- 1993!  This was one of the first   
   songs I learned to finger-pick and I still really like it.  Toast to you all!   
      
   Did the Peter, Paul and Mary version contain that last verse?   
   During the American Revolution, wives sometimes went with their husbands to   
   fight. See "Molly Pitcher." I associate this song with those times.
