The problem isn't much an age thing as much as it is a 'pop' issue. Face
it: Pop musak is at best a hit or miss affair and in daily reality it
   sucks, or is ultimately forgettable.

I don't think it was much better in the past like many like to believe.
The reality is that most people cannot or will not listen to anything
outside this pop , the 2JJJ pop, nova pop, TV pop, hip-hop pop,
'alternative' pop. I know quite a few people whom despise TOP50 pop songs
yet all they listen to is really a different pop music.

So either put up with it or try: instrumental, classical, heavy metal,
goth, industrial, punk etc. They all have their share of problems, but
   less so than pop musak.
