   Around 1977, when I lived in Houston, I went to Galveston a few   
   times.  I wasn't too impressed with the beach.  True, Florida/   
   Alabama Gulf Coast is a hard act to follow, but the tar balls...   
   yecch.  I hope they've cleaned that up since.
