   Another thing to try first (OBDII scanner is a good thing to have   
   regardless) is to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes or so and   
   reconnect. Sometimes these computers get the signals messed up and a   
   reset will fix it. If the light stays off, you're golden. If not...
