I've forgotten many times, and it really aggravates you when you do it.
Your solution worked nicely. I almost always just leave the clock
running when I take a break for water or a snack, and then if I do
remember to turn it off, I forget to turn it back on like I did up in
the Kettle for ab0out a half mile. Arrgh.

I saw that in your other hike. I just try not to walk that fast
anymore. It leads to inflammation and then I'm screwed. You definitely
   faster than me.

It's good, but what is important is being comfortable with whatever you
use. I have two good hikes lined up for Monday and Tuesday and have
downloaded offline maps so I can go into Airplane mode to save battery.
Also helpful if you don't have cell coverage if you download the
complete maps ahead of time. Almost every hike we take we have little
   or no cell service.
