   The most-affordable option I've found: find a friend with dogs that get   
   along well with yours and that also travels occasionally. Then you can   
   trade - when you have to be out of town your dogs stay with your friend   
   and vice versa. It's as cheap as can be and is also enjoyable (that is,   
   assuming that you and your friend like the company of each others' dogs!)
