   I didn't say that.  What I was trying to imply is that   
   there's not a Malamute shortage.  And since there's not a   
   Malamute shortage and because so many perfectly nice dogs   
   are being killed for want of home, the moral thing is to   
   make sure that you've got a really, really good reason for   
   producing more Malamutes.  Being a really slovenly dog owner   
   is not one of them.

   find someone who knows something about dogs and have *that*

   The AMCA code of ethics forbids breeding wolf hybrids,   
   forbids selling pet-quality dogs without a spay/neuter   
   contract, forbids using a stud that hasn't been certified   
   clear of hip dysplasia by OFFA, forbids selling a puppy both   
   of whose parents haven't had their hips cleared by OFFA or a   
   veterinarian without a written waiver from the puppy buyer,   
   and so on.  They also require explaining genetic health   
   problems to puppy buyers - rather more than telling them   
   that Purina Dog Chow is a splendid dog food.
