XPost: rec.pets.dogs.breeds, alt.animals.dog, rec.pets.dogs.rescue       XPost: rec.pets.dogs.behavior       From: roy@contact-thesahara.wanadoo.co.uk              My 11 month old chihuahua is in her second heat. Because it was close       to her first heat I took her to the veterinarian. The vet told me she       was in perfect health and to breed her now if I wanted. Most       information I have read says 24 months and I am looking for a second       opinion. I just want to do the best thing for the dog.              Thanks,              Tony                     Hi, it is a general conception that you should not put a female dog through       the rigors of pregnancy until she is at least 24 months. Irrespective of all       else, it is just commonsense. Would be asking this of a say a seven year old       human? There are of course a 1,000 other factors to consider, but you did       not ask for them.              Thanx              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
