   Hi Todd,   
   I would dab very lightly at the incision when/if it gets wet.  Keep it dry   
   until it heals properly - if the incision area 'weeps' get vet advice or if   
   not possible get some hibitane and dilute *very* well and dab close to the   
   incision but *away* from it each time with a new piece of cotton or   
   whatever, to reduce further risk of infection.  You don't want to leave   
   soap/wash on the incision/stitches.  How's he doing?
