XPost: uk.rec.pets.misc, uk.rec.caravanning       From: g.griffith@ntlworld.com              The pet must be chipped first, then given the anti rabies jab. One month       (28days)later a blood test to check it has taken. If Ok the the pet can       RETURN to uk 6 months after the date of the jab.( It can leave any time       before the 6th month!!)The current advice is that the booster jabs should be       given every 12 months. There is a general expectation that all other routine       treatment, innoculations etc have been carried out in the right timescales       and recorded in the pet passport. Between 24 and 48 hours before LANDING       back in UK, the pet must be treated for ticks and worms and the treatment       recorded in the passport.        Did this for several years with my two dogs and apart from the first year       when it was starting had no probs(and that was only because the ferry       company were not familiar enough with the process!!!) As long as all your       papers are in order, you should have no difficulties. Incidentally it is a       good idea to carry the blood test results with you in case there is a       problem and you need to see a vet before crossing back. Amazed your vet does       not have the information as he/she will have tp provide the initial       documentation and passport!       good luck.       Gwilym                     "John Nagelson" |
