   We need to stop considering electric vehicles as "woke." We are going to run   
   out of gas sooner rather than later.   
      
   I think we need to incentivize investment in research - say, a set of prizes   
   to the first companies that can:   
   (a) Fly an electric-powered plane from PHNL (Honolulu) to KLAX (Los Angeles)   
   with 10,000 kg of freight (simulating 100 overweight passengers) in under 6   
   hours;   
   (b) Drive a truck filled with goods, or their equivalent weight, along I-80   
   from Omaha to Sacramento with an average speed matching what trucks can do now   
   - the point being that it has to be able to make it over both the Rockies and   
   the Sierra Nevadas,    
   rather than going around them because the engines aren't powerful enough.
