   I really wish you'd get this -- especially you, Ken.   
      
   I was homeless on the streets of San Francisco for nearly 9 1/2 years.   
      
   The SFPD laughed in my face 20 years ago when they shot off their mouths about   
   how I'd solve the problem (as they wrote me a ticket for not liking where I   
   was sleeping), and I told them my solution THEN involved closing Golden Gate   
   Park, rounding us all    
   up, and turning us over to the National Guard.   
      
   You don't get it.   
      
   You really don't get it.   
      
   It isn't a matter of lack of consequences.   
      
   There's only two deterrents left in the criminal justice system:  Prison rape   
   and death.   
      
   And for many homeless people and/or people who find prison or jail a rite of   
   passage or a badge of honor, you have no prayer short of shooting them.   
      
   Nut up or shut up.
