|    More bad news for FSU - first, left out     |

From: don.p.del.grande@gmail.com              It turns out that a Florida State assistant coach (reportedly, its OC)       arranged a meeting between a potential transfer (reportedly Georgia's Amarius       Mims), his parents, and a booster who was a member of FSU's main NIL       collective, who offered an NIL deal        of $15,000/month for "at least one year," and drove them to the meeting (but       did not attend himself). The player (who decided not to transfer anywhere) and       both parents informed the NCAA of the meeting.              One small problem - using NIL as an incentive to enroll/transfer is an NCAA       violation.       Second small problem - the coach lied to the NCAA by claiming that he didn't       arrange the meeting.              Result:        fine of 1% of the FSU football budget;        two-year show cause for the coach, including a three-game suspension;       loss of 5 scholarships in each of the next two years;       also, FSU's NIL collective may not donate any money to the school, and the       school may not provide any benefits to the collective that are not otherwise       available to the general public, for a one-year period that ends pretty much       right after the next CFP        championship game. Note that the collective CAN continue to provide NIL deals.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
