   Not sure what usenet client you're using, but if you use Agent, it   
   allows you to set up filters with priorities.   
      
   Which means you can set up a general killfilter for gmail at a certain   
   priority, but for those people you know who use it, and who you want   
   to read, you can set up a watch filter at a higher priority so they   
   get downloaded but no other f*cker from gmail does.   
      
   It's *really* useful. Much recommended.
