Considering that Valen was never mentioned once in the series before
season 2.. what is your basis?

   >He's the one who thinks like a Minbari.

Which makes him the perfect candidate to bring the two races together
in the coming war. It doesn't annoint him as Valen. All of the season
1 "foreshadowing" was made vague enough that it could have played both
ways. It was only with season 2 and after the decision was made that
he got solidified into that character.

   >He's the one that has Valen's soul.

Once again.. something established after season 2 got underway and the
decision had been made. Its really easy to not see the scaffolding
that was in place in season 1 and knocked out once season 2-5
happened. Once the decision was made a deliberate attempt was made to
try to make you believe this was the *ONLY* way it could be. The
series was setup, however, to handle both options. JMS went over this
time and again. He built what he called trap doors into the show to be
able to cover dynamic changes to the story. So that the loss of an
actor wouldn't change the story. The Valen Arc was simply one of
   those.

Once again.. I have not seen the series outline that has been floating
around so if JMS himself actually put out something different it would
   be interesting to see.

   >If the character Sinclair had stayed, "War Without End" would have
   >been the series finale. or close to it.

Also a load of crap because War Without End is not a show that can
move. Narratively it HAS to come before Z'ha'dum or our character
doesn't have his reason for going.. i.e. to change the future he saw
believing as Kosh told him that if he went to Z'ha'dum he would die.
How could he be in the future if he were dead therefore by going he is
   changing the future.

   >Instead of seeing Sheridan pull a Christ and
   >disappear, Sinclair would have returned to the beginning.
   >
   >Also, it was Valen who created the Rangers, a thousand years in the
   >story's past.
   >
   >> The Valen Arc was simply a trap door for Our Hero should for any
   >
   >No, the Valen arc was always a part of the story. How it manifested
   >was the trap door for the actor.

I never disputed that it was always a part of the story. Valen arc
still would have happened had Sinclair stayed and stayed relatively in
tact... simply with a different person(Sheridan) going back in time in
   WWE.

The only kinky part to that is both Sinclair and Delenn would both be
descendents of Valen :>. But since lineage is seperated by 1000 years,
I don't think it would be a problem and since they both shared similar
far distant DNA it would only solidify her foundation for allowing
this to happen and for the two lines.. the Valen Minbari line(her) and
the Valen Human line(Sinclair) to merge back into one. Thinking about
it.. that makes much more sense and jives with what Lennier was trying
to say about lost souls and getting them back at the start of season
   2.
