   Note that, although one often hears "favored nation", it is correctly   
   "most favored nation". It's from a common clause in trade agreements,   
   where country A agrees to treat country B just as well as they treat   
   their "most favored nation" -- i.e., A promises not to treat any third   
   country better than they treat B.   
      
   As far as I know, it's not a question of renegotiating contracts, but a   
   simple rule: if one actor gets extra goody X, they all do.
